RESCUE CHOW CHOWS
One Year Later ... !

One year later and our special family of rescue Chows are happily settled and completely bonded with their new families!

Jack and Jill are prematurely old.
Arthritis, missing teeth, and assorted aches and pains tell of their harsh life and make winters difficult and long.
It was too late to fix the aggregate of old injuries but they are safe and comfortable in their respective homes
with plenty of good food, warm beds and love enough to erase all the dark yesterdays and promise many bright tomorrows.

Jack is a genteel old man, not very mobile but cheerfully gracious and charming with everyone he meets. People and animals alike are drawn to his larger than life charisma.

Jill is a grand old lady, now trusting her family and environment enough to relax her once vigilant control. Often she is content to doze in the sun, happy just to have her family around her.

Joey has grown into dignified, reserved maturity, a tribute to Chowdom. He is completely devoted to Mama Silva. He follows her around everywhere, reads her mind (and, sometimes she suspects, even her email!) instinctively knowing her movements and her moods.

Tammy, once our little "Barbie Chow", has confirmed her role as pampered princess. Despite the brief hiccup of a nasty cruciate tear, she continues to playfully tease and provoke her pack siblings.

It has been a privilege to walk the path with these Chows, from wild and fearful to happy, confident, fully integrated family members. Their families all agree "more than we saved them, they saved us".
This seems to be a recurring theme amongst those who adopt.

If you would like to help the most important thing you can do for a Chow in shelter is help grooming.
Help them to avoid the shave of shame and feel better about themselves in an unfortunate situation.
Remember, you can donate, volunteer, foster or adopt!
